Aciclovir
Indications/Uses
HSV skin infection including initial & recurrent genital herpes & herpes labialis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn Apply 5 times daily to affected area at approx 4-hrly interval. Duration of treatment: Herpes labialis At least 4 days. Genital herpes 5 days or up to 10 days if healing has not occurred.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aciclovir, valaciclovir, propylene glycol.
Special Precautions
Avoid contact w/ eyes & mucous membranes. Severely immunocompromised patients. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Uncommonly, transient burning or stinging after application, mild skin drying & flaking, itching.
